Three
Ultimately,
Working Artists, LLC's vision is to be an empowering environment for creative
professionals, emerging or established, whose work
fuses art, business and social contribution. Working Artists'
members, and some studio tenants, fulfill on that
vision now, each in their own unique ways. Among
that group are artists who:
- contribute
artworks to fundraising projects for non-profits
and social change organizations,
- create
educational projects about the arts and the power
of the arts in society,
- conduct
applied arts workshops in prisons and schools
to facilitate healing and recovery, and more
Stage
OneLaying Our Foundation
We
have a long-term plan to fulfill on that vision, Stage One of which was to create the physical
and marketing environment to help our studio tenants
create success in both their creative and business
realms.
To
that end, we have a 4500 square foot facility at
our current location, complete with open and private
creative studios
and an art gallery (which sometimes doubles as a classroom).
All
studio rentals include the following as part of
the rent: studio or office space, all utilities,
internet connection, liability insurance, use of any of three internet
enabled Studio Computers, dumpster
& recycling pick-up, drinking water, and inclusion in any of
the many group event activities we hold each year. Tenancy also includs a full membership to the Working ARtists Netowrk (see below).
If
you are interested in renting studio or office space
for yourself or your organization, visit our Available
Space webpage and get in touch with us today.
Stage
TwoMembership Program
Stage Two has just launched, and includes a membership program in which
ANY artist, from any discipline, may participate
by paying a membership fee. Membership activities
include (but are not limited to):
- Free
or reduced fees for workshops and classes that
enable artists to create a strong and workable
plan for the business of art-making;
- Tickets
to our "Successful Artist" presentations,
where artists who have become self-sustaining
share their experience of being successful in
both the creative AND business arena;
- First-choice
opportunity to participate in our fundraisers
for selected non-profit, social-profit and community
enhancing organizations;
- Get the latest guidance and news on healthcare for self employed artists so artists are making the right choices for they and their families. Working Artists LLC is also exploring the possibility of being able to offer group health insurance plans to its members;

- Quarterly workshops designed to keep your arts-based business moving forward.

ThreeBuilding Out
As
Working Artists, LLC becomes established in the
community as the premiere arts incubator in Portland
OR, we will continue to expand our programming and
facilities. We expect to be in the market to purchase
a building in 2008 [an expansion of our current
facility - rather than a replacement] devoted exclusively
to our business, and are compiling a waiting list
of tenants. As we develop our plans and intentions
for the new facility, we'll post information here.
If
you want to be on the waiting list for studio or
creative office space, drop us an e-mail at space@workingartistsonline.com.
Include all your contact information, your art form,
and your intention with your arts career.
Additionally,
we're focusing our community programming efforts,
developing ongoing relationships with some of Portland's
most interesting and inspiring neighborhoods, organizations
and arts-focused projects. From the Salvation Army's
White Shield Center, the YWCA, and the Native American
Youth Association (NAYA), to neighborhoods like
New Columbia, you'll find Working Artists Network members
developing and conducting workshops to build community,
heal relationships, beautify neighborhoods and more.
As
a for-profit organization we set the standard and
are an example for artists who are committed to
developing their own entrepreneurial enterprises.
We take our mission seriously, and walk the talk
of our training programs. You'll find founder, Adrienne
Fritze, participating in developing her own arts
career while facilitating "The Guerilla Exhibitor",
the 12 week program she designed to assist artists
in gaining real business management, marketing and
event production skills in promoting their arts
career.
We
expect Stage Three to launch sometime in late
2008, and will be delighted if it takes off sooner
than anticipated.
