TO APPLY
Working Artists Gallery, and Yelp.com are teaming up to produce a fun and lively recycle/reuse arts project kicking off Wednesday May 7th!
The main ingredient of the project is old PHONE BOOKS, and we're calling the project, the PHONE BOOK MASH-UP.
Artists of ANY genre - 2D visual, 3D, fashion design, instrument makers, musicians, filmmakers, poets - anyone engaged in the arts in the Portland area - can apply to participate.
We'll be choosing up to 15 artists, performers, crafters, writers, etc. for this 3 month process leading up to a BIG BASH at our secret location [well, it'll be a secret until it's time to let the cat out of the bag!] where YOUR ART, FASHIONS, PERFORMANCE, FILM, COMIC BOOK, WHATEVER will be showcased.
TO APPLY: Write a short paragraph describing how you would use phone books in your resultant work of art! Be creative and have fun and remember that recycling phonebooks is a key element in the resulting work - whether it's worn, painted on, collaged into something else, fashioned into a musical instrument, part of your indie film - you tell us how you want to use these phone books in your work, and we'll choose 15 artists to take on this fun challenge.
Include a link to your website or a webpage showcasing your recent work, send us a Bio or Artist's Statement, attach jpegs or mp3's or PDF's, etc.- just get us to your work so we know who you are and what it is you do as an artist!
E-mail this information to: wag@workingartistsonline.com - put PHONE BOOK MASH-UP in the Subject Line so we get to your application faster.
EXTENDED DEADLINE: Midnight, May 5th!!!
If you have any questions, or to post your submission, e-mail wag@workingartistsonline.com. Be sure to put PHONE BOOK MASH-UP in your subject line so your mail gets immediate attention!
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
