How to Use This Resource
  1. Review the different social networking sites included in the section titled "Social Networks Dissected" to become familiar with how they each arrange similar content. Give yourself at least an hour to explore them. Use the Dissected page as a launch pad to each.
  2. Register for one or two of them that appeal to you. For the purposes of cross promoting with Portland Open Studios we suggest that at least one of those services be MySpace. Once you are signed up, add Portland Open Studios to your friends list [ http://myspace.com/portlandopenstudios ].
  3. Set aside another two to three hours to work on creating "Content Buckets" to help you easily populate your profile pages, as well as assist you with other online promotions (eg. listings on: Craigslist, sites for local news organizations, PORT and other Portland art blogs, etc.) . You can download a worksheet to help guide you in creating the right kind of content for social networking profiles (click on "Content Buckets").
  4. If you want an example of an Editorial Calendar for your article/blogging efforts, see mine in the section titled "Story Telling".

Organize your content buckets for online OR

Here you will find a basic outline of content used to create your profile on nearly any social networking platform. You can download worksheets, in either WORD or PDF format to use to develop your master file of information so all you need do is copy and paste the necessary information to your social networking websites.

The downloadable worksheets are more thorough tools, acting as a guide to help you create the needed information - including an exhibtion history and resume samples.

Here you will find my outline for Blog article headlines and a brief synopsis of what the blog entry will contain. The power of following a regular schedule like this is that you will gain a readership first by writing the articles and then by tagging your articles with appropriate key words and phrases that search engines spiders seek.
